Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Alternate Ending
Clear “A Snake Tale” to unlock the M9. Then use it to stun all the Bosses instead of killing them to view an alternate ending.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Glitch: Prevent Alarms
If an enemy sees you, run to a room where the screen blackens and prints the area’s name on the screen. For some reason, the game will not sound an alarm. Useful for the tanker, or any other small areas where the maps get reloaded a lot.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Hint: Run On Stairs (VR Mode)
When you are using Ninja, you can do a vertical slash then hold the Right Analog stick off center to keep the sword up and out. While the Ninja looks dumb running around like this, he will run (instead of sneak) up stairs.

If you have a save from Document of Metal Gear Solid 2 on your memory card, more goodies will be unlocked for Substance right off the bat.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance Hint: Bugs in Rations
In some portions of the game you’ll see little sea mites on the floor. If you have to crawl through the mites they’ll sometimes get on your character, and start eating your rations. If you leave them there long enough you’ll lose rations–to get rid of them, open your item select menu and quickly cycle through it, going back and forth past the rations. The sea mite will be “shaken” off, saving your food.

Mercenaries Cheat: Invulnerability
Note: This cheat needs to be reentered after each loading screen. Any after-effects, bugs, or glitches that may corrupt your game are currently not known at this time. Saving your game with this cheat on may result in it being on permanently.

On the PDA’s faction screen, enter UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT on the D-Pad. You should hear a click that signifies the code is active. The merc will be invulnerable to all sources of damage (you may have to Medivac if you fall into deep water). This also applies to the current vehicle the merc happens to be operating at the time.

Mercenaries Cheat: Add $1,000,000
Go to the PDA’s faction status screen and enter the following on the D-pad: RIGHT, DOWN, LEFT, UP, UP, LEFT, DOWN, RIGHT. A soft click should confirm the code’s activation.

Note: Use this cheat with care, as the possibility of it altering your save file exists.

Mercenaries Cheat: Reset Faction Status
Head for the faction status screen of the PDA and enter UP, UP, UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, RIGHT, LEFT. This resets all faction meters to neutral (yellow) and sets the Allied Nations as friendly (green). Note this will affect the prices in the Merchant of Menace if your status with the Russians is not neutral.

Mercenaries Hint: Free Vehicle Repair
Did you hijack a rare vehicle (i.e., a helicoptor gunship) and want to keep it for a while? Go to any faction HQ and make sure that the last vehicle you entered and exitted is the vehicle you want to keep (and have repaired). Accept the contract. Once the merc is outside the HQ once more, locate your parked vehicle and cancel the contract. Decline to retry the contract and your vehicle will be available with full and ammo.

Mercenaries Glitch: Faster Beacon Timers
You can glitch the beacon timer by purchasing the same item in the Merchant of Menace shop once the first beacon is deployed (this assumes you have access to that same item in the Mafia shop). Just beware that the maximum number of shop choppers delivering supplies is one; however, this glitch allows you to call in one chopper right after the previous with little delay.

Mercenaries Hint: Chopper Locations
South Province:

* UH60 Transport - The $ Challenge southwest of the DMZ (the AN HQ is in the DMZ area on the map).

* UH60 Transport - Northeast of the DMZ. This chopper becomes available after the Ace Of Clubs contract is resolved successfully.

* LHX Chopper - Inchon. This chopper is available after the South Korean mission involving the missile trucks at Inchon is resolved successfully.

* WZ-9 Chopper - Pyongyang Airport. This chopper is available after the Chinese mission involving Nampo is resolved successfully.

North Province:

* NK Transport - North of Changsong Train station’s eliptical road there is a small rise next to the restricted airspace with a ZSU and a chopper on it.

* NK Gunship - East of Changsong Train station there is an eliptical road. Head east from it and a small airbase can be found with several gunships and SAM carriers.

* Coaxial Gunship - This is a unique chopper that can only be found during the second Russian mission while verifying the Spades. The temple northwest of the Industrial Zone has the chopper, along with one of the mission’s objectives.

* AN Gunship - This takes a little work. You also need a sniper rifle. Head to the east entrance of the Kusong MASH and climb the surrounding hills. A random set of gunships and transport choppers hover over the MASH (if you do not see a gunship, you can save/load your game). Snipe the pilot of a gunship as it passes over the MASH; the resulting accident will usually leave the gunship in barely flyable condition, and cost you $25,000 (for killing the AN pilot).

FantaVision Unlock Everything
To unlock Cheat Mode, go to the Options Menu. Hold all four shoulder buttons, then press X, UP, X, UP, DOWN, SQUARE.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy DEMO Hint: Sneak Peak
Note: this cheat works only for the demo… In the first demo mission after killing the three guards in the second area press the red button turning off the lasers at the next door go through the door then you will see another door in that hallway. When you try to open it, it says “door locked for demo” simply use remote view (up on D-pad) and you can pass through the door and explore what the actual game’s first level contains.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy Hint: Fusion Tower Shut Down
In the Fusion Tower, there are four rooms: K-1, K-2, K-3 and K-4. The goal of this puzzle is to hit these switches in order. Each room contains one switch. You need to flip all four of these switches to overload the fusion reactor and move on to the next area. Okay. You start off in room K-1, but don’t hit this switch! They must be flipped in this order:

* K-3
* K-2
* K-4
* K-1

Now, while you stay hidden in K-1, mind-control a bad guy and have him run to room K-3, then to K-2 and finally to K-4. You’re psi-energy will drain pretty fast while you’re doing this, and of course with every switch you flip, the fusion blast becomes faster and more powerful, so be patient. It takes practice, but you’ll get it. After the first three are down, all you have to do is flip the last switch in K-1 and you’re done! But watch out for the meat-puppet soldiers that come charging in the room. Dispose of them (and anybody else that gets in your way) and run to room K-3. A door has now been unlocked.

In the Fusion Tower,I found that fliping the switches in the order of K-1, K-4, K-2, K-3 also works to shutdown the reactor. I realize that is the reverse of anothers suggestion, but this way you don’t have to worry about the people in the reactor chamber trying to kill you. Also, this way you don’t waste as much Psi-energy if you flip the first two switches yourself, go to K-3 and Mind Control a guy to flip K-2 for you.
